What a memorable day! We walked along the beach at Agadir, a city geared toward tourists and all new since the big earthquake in the 1960s. It is interesting to see how diverse Morocco is, just like many places in the world with vast differences between the rich and poor. I prefer Taroudant over Agadir and am glad we were assigned there.
We did enjoy a nice day though, eating fresh fish along the ocean and yes, riding a camel. It is amazing how we stand out. The main tourist beach was too busy today for the camels to be allowed, so Hassan suggested we try a less busy one to the north. Sure enough, the camels were there, and we had about a half hour ride along the beach, as the minute we walked from the car to the beach, the camel owner/trainer spotted us and came to make the sell. It wasn't a tough one.
We then enjoyed shopping in the huge souk and treat at a cafe'. Having trouble posting pics now with the Internet connection so will try in the morning. This trip will indeed leave me a weary traveler, but I wouldn't trade it. Tomorrow I teach in the school and am really looking forward to it.
On the jetty at Agadir
Tom named my camel Swifty because he was much more energetic than his, who he named Sulky.
The fish fry
That water moved a lot quicker than I expected. I got soaking wet.
