July 13 Switzerland of Central Asia

We made an active start with a half-day trip to Jety-Oguz Gorge for hiking on a 10k journey through the gorge, which was stunning. We passed striking mountains and rolling hills. The water was a beautiful color coming out of high peaks, and I could see why this area is often called the Switzerland of Central Asia. Some young horsemen spotted us where we were turning around and tried to get us to ride horses, but we were all good on our own two feet except Vina who had altitude sickness at the high lake, so she took a ride.

We returned to Karakol in the afternoon for free time, exchanged currency because we are going to  Kazakhstan tomorrow, and went out to soak in some hot springs. This felt fine here in the cooler mountains, and we discussed how it will soon be different and much hotter where we are going.
